Artist Statement

Anneke Bogardus sculptures embody nature and the human touch. Each piece is sculpted by hand, allowing the composition to naturally form as it is felt. Anneke has always been inspired by nature as it evolves through the seasons and in life. Each piece is a physical interpretation of a subject morphing from one state to the next. Anneke’s style is unique in that her finger strokes can be seen as they make any movement on the clay’s surface. The glazes for each piece vary between natural crackles, metallics, blues, and matt surfaces reacting to the firing.
